Mos Mos, 5 ⭐️
MosMos has a special place in my heart - it was where I began my matcha journey. I vividly remember dashing through the PATH from PwC with my colleagues to get a drink and so I’ll always go back to reminisce on those fun times. They have a few variations, but nowadays when I’m in Toronto, I usually get the Ceremonial Matcha Latte, unsweetened with plant milk. The other drinks are great too so definitely recommend a few visits to try everything on the menu.
I hadn’t explored the Landsdowne area in a very long time, so I’m grateful to have gotten to visit Coffee by Joy! We got the earl grey matcha, and neither of us could really taste the notes of earl grey - a bit disappointing since that is one of my favourite flavours. Ambiance was nice, and there’s a hidden art gallery at the back with seating,
Daigyo Cafe Scarborough, 5 ⭐️
Technically in Scarborough but you won’t be disappointed if you make the trek! Both their soy matcha and matcha soft serve were amazing, and I bought a tin of the Fuji Spring matcha to use at home!
Matcha Haus, 5 ⭐️
I went to the location on Bathurst Street and got one regular matcha and one black sesame soy matcha. The interior was very aesthetic (heads up that there isn’t much seating), and the service was fast! The drinks were great but what I found interesting was that after the barista whisked the matcha, she strained it while pouring into the cups - I haven’t seen this before!
Forget Me Not Coffee, 4 ⭐️
This cafe went viral for their banana bread matcha, with customers waiting in long lines for hours. Luckily when I went on a weekday morning, there was no line. While I do appreciate the creativity of a banana and matcha pairing, I don’t think this drink was anything special. The banana purée was quite sweet and overpowered the matcha in my opinion. I would come back to try the normal matcha latte.
